Ingredients & Substitutions
- shrimp: Large or jumbo shrimp work best because they are juicier and won't overcook. Look for peeled, deveined shrimp with tails on. They make great finger food at parties.
- olive oil: Use a high-quality extra virgin olive oil like Graza "Sizzle" EVOO. Alternatively, you can use avocado oil.
- seasonings: A simple blend of lemon juice, smoked paprika, garlic powder, fresh lemon juice, salt and pepper. Experiment with different flavors and spices by using seasonings like Old Bay seasoning, a blend of oregano, basil, and thyme, or lemon pepper.
- optional: For an extra crispy outside and even more flavor, toss the shrimp in panko bread crumbs and Parmesan cheese.
How to make Air Fryer Shrimp

Step 1: Combine seasonings.
In a small bowl, mix together olive oil, lemon juice, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt and pepper.

Step 2: Season the shrimp.
Place the shrimp in a bowl, add the seasoning mix, and toss until the shrimp are evenly coated.

Step 3: Add to air fryer basket.
Place the shrimp in the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd the basket.
You may need to do this in batches depending on the size of your basket.

Step 4: Cook the shrimp.
Air fry the shrimp for 7-8 minutes at 400°F(200°C), flipping halfway through.

Pro Tip
Arrange the shrimp in a single layer in the air fryer basket with space between each piece to allow the hot air to circulate properly.
This ensures even cooking, allowing the shrimp to crisp up.
Serve
While super delicious on their own, air fryer shrimp pairs wonderfully with a variety of dishes.
- Enjoy them in shrimp tacos made with homemade sourdough tortillas for a fresh and flavorful twist.
- They also make a delicious appetizer when served with tzatziki sauce or creamy chipotle sauce for dipping.
- For a hearty meal, serve them alongside cilantro lime rice and a zesty corn and red cabbage slaw for a satisfying and balanced dinner.
