Ingredients needed

- 1 package of oreo cookies
- cream cheese
- candy melts
- sprinkles (optional)
Step by step instructions
Oreo balls are one of the easiest desserts to make for the holidays. Let's go over how to do it in just a few simple steps!
Bring cream cheese to room temperature
Take the cream cheese out of the fridge so that it can start to soften at room temperature.
Crush the Oreo cookies
Place the Oreo cookies, both the chocolate wafers along with the cream center, in a food processor. Pulse them until the cookies are crushed into fine crumbs.
TIP: No food processor? No problem! Place the cookies into a plastic bag and use a rolling pin to crush them. Make sure the cookie crumbs are evenly crushed.

Beat the cream cheese
Place the room temperature cream cheese into the bowl of a stand mixer. Use the paddle attachment to beat the cream cheese until it is smooth.
TIP: If you don't have a stand mixer, use a stiff spatula or an electric hand mixer.

Combine the crushed Oreos and cream cheese
Pour the crushed Oreos into the bowl with the cream cheese. Mix them together until the two ingredients are fully combined.

Divide the Oreo balls mixture
Use a small cookie scoop to divide the mixture into 1 tablespoon sized portions. Use your hands to roll each portion into a ball.
Arrange the balls on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper or wax paper to prevent them from sticking.
Place the sheet in the freezer for 30-60 minutes so they become firm.

Dip the Oreo cookie balls in chocolate
Melt your white chocolate candy melts according to package directions. Most candy melts can be easily and quickly melted in a microwave.
Working with one Oreo ball at a time, use a fork to lower the ball into the melted chocolate.
Use a spatula to help remove any excess chocolate that is dripping from the ball. Place it back onto the baking sheet.

If using candy sprinkles, put them on the melted chocolate before it sets up. This ensures that the sprinkles will stick to the top of the Oreo ball.
You could also melt a different color chocolate and drizzle it over the top of each one.
If you don't have sprinkles, try topping each ball with Oreo crumbs for a simple decoration.
Variations
Can't find candy melts? Use semi-sweet chocolate or dark chocolate chips instead.
Add a small amount of coconut oil to help thin out the chocolate chips if needed. Stir in 1 teaspoon at a time, until it melts, until you get the right consistency.
You can also add ½ teaspoon of your favorite extract to give the truffles a unique flavor. We like to add peppermint extract to the melted chocolate for a mint chocolate flavor.
Flavored extracts that go well with chocolate;
- orange extract
- lemon extract
- rum extract
- hazelnut extract
Add ½ teaspoon of your choice of extract to the melted chocolate or candy melts. Give it a taste and add more if needed!

How to store and freeze
Because the Oreo balls contain cream cheese, store them in the fridge until you are ready to serve them.
Make the Oreo truffles up to 5 days in advance. This make ahead dessert is so convenient and time saving on the day of your party.
Freeze them for up to 4 months in a freezer-safe container for an even earlier start!
